Life Plan Communities
The new term is Life Plan Communities, a change from Continuing Care Communities. As seniors age, their level of care often increases. In the past, this meant moving from one facility and beginning the exhaustive search of finding another facility and moving - very time consuming, expensive and exhaustive to say the least. LIfe Plan Communities were designed to eliminate this problem by offering a wide variety of services in one community. Life Plan Communities offer lifetime housing, activities and increased levels of care as required by the resident.
A Life Plan Communityis different from other senior living options because it combines an active, rewarding lifestyle with a provision for potential future care needs.
The majority of Life Plan Communities offers three levels of care: independent living, assisted living care, and skilled nursing care. It is becoming more common for facilities to offer Alzheimers and dementia services as well.
While Life Plan Communities are the most convenient, they are the most expensive, and generally require a large up-front amount of money to prepay for services rendered. Many Life Plan Communities have three types of contracts based upon budget and care needs:
- Life Care Contract: This is the most comprehensive contract that guarantees unlimited services for the life of the resident.
- Modified Care Contract: This contract offers a specific menu of services for a defined period of time. Services can be renewed when the time period expires, but often at a higher cost.
- Fee-for-Service Contract: This plan has a lower up-front fee, but services are charged at a higher rate than the life care and modified care contracts.
For those who can afford Life Care Retirement Communities they are an excellent choice. They offer a full spectrum of care in the convenience of one location without the hassle of moving. Seniors love them for the stability and peace of mind knowing they can spend their lives receiving excellent care in one place. A Life Plan Community are also called by other names including Continuing Care Community, Engaged Living Community, Vital Living Community, Continuing Choice Community, ActivAge Community, and PrimEra Community, among others.
